Aaron, Trent, and Peaches go MBRS-only and start with one of the most frustrating things in the military:

The boss says exactly what he wants.

Then six people between him and the person actually doing the job decide they know what he really meant.

Peaches talks about upcoming after-action work tied to Epic Fury and the chairman’s stated desire to hear directly from the captains, majors, master sergeants, tech sergeants, planners, and operators who were actually involved.

Simple enough.

Except apparently everyone in the middle wants a little FaceTime too.

That turns into a bigger conversation about command intent getting diluted as it travels down the chain, generals showing up for carefully choreographed visits, staffs deciding who deserves access, and senior leaders asking for one thing while the bureaucracy delivers something completely different.

Then they hit the word everyone loves until it becomes inconvenient:

Meritocracy.

If one person is the best performer three years in a row, why shouldn’t they win three years in a row?

Why “spread the love” if the boss specifically asked for the highest performers?

Aaron talks about losing an award partly because his organization had already won in previous years. The crew agrees that if the system is truly based on performance, history should not matter.

Then the episode becomes MBRS again.

Aaron may be headed to Tampa for the Tier One podcast. The boys talk about Antihero, living in negative social-media spaces, why the internet stops mattering when your kid falls asleep on your chest, and how their wives make absolutely certain none of them develop influencer egos.

That leads into a conversation Aaron had with one of the early Delta guys about selection, high performers, relationships, and why who someone chooses to marry can reveal more than people realize.

Then Peaches somehow drags everyone into a 33-year-old football movie before Aaron gives a field report from the Olympia — where everyone is jacked, everyone is an influencer, apparently nobody owns enough clothing, and Mike O’Hearn now follows Aaron.
